Second Tuesday of Advent-The Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Listen to the podcast.

“May it be done to me according to your word.”

When was the last time you spoke these, or similar, words to God?  Can you remember?  Or maybe a better question might be, when was the last time you listened quietly to God?  You can’t say “yes” if you don’t hear the request.

As we pause during this Advent season to consider the birth of the Savior, consider this.  Jesus was the Son of God.  His conception and his birth were announced by the angel.  His birth, His earthly life, His death and resurrection changed the world.  You and I have the hope of eternal life because of His death.  Amen!  Alleluia!  Glory to God in the Highest!  Choirs of angels sing His praise!

Yet none of this would have happened if a young Jewish girl in an obscure town in the middle east hadn’t spoken those ten words.

You and I may not be asked to commit to such a momentous task.  But God is calling us to do something and we have no way of knowing how our actions will affect others.  Like the ever-expanding circles that we create in the water when we toss in a rock, our actions often touch people we don’t even know.

Please take time out of your busy day to reflect on Mary’s response to God’s request and how you can follow her example in your own life.
